Industry-Academia-Research Synergy: OYRR Powers 170℃ Industrial Steam Heat Pump Technology to National Acceptance

Recently, the key scientific research project "Development of Heat Pump Technology Solutions for Integrated Energy Projects in Industrial Parks" – a 2023 "Open Bidding" initiative launched by Dongfang Boiler and undertaken by the Energy Storage Technology Team of Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), Chinese Academy of Sciences – successfully passed expert group acceptance in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Notably, the core R&D and prototype trial production of this project were fully completed at the factory of Guangdong  Eurasia Freezing Equipment Manufacturing  Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "OYRR"), marking the company’s R&D and production capabilities in the field of industrial high-temperature heat pumps have been highly recognized by national-level scientific research teams.

As an important cooperative partner and R&D implementation carrier, OYRR provided full-process support for the project – from core component processing and unit integration assembly to performance testing and verification – leveraging its years of technical accumulation in refrigeration equipment manufacturing. The joint R&D team conquered four major technical challenges: high-temperature efficient double-sided phase change evaporation separation, wide-temperature-range environmental adaptive regulation, inter-stage cycle heat efficient coupling, and stable 170℃ steam preparation control. This led to the successful development of an air-source 170℃ industrial steam heat pump unit adaptable to a wide temperature range of -15℃ to 35℃, significantly expanding the application boundaries of heat pump technology in industrial heating scenarios.

Certified by an authoritative third-party organization, the prototype unit delivered outstanding performance at an ambient temperature of 27℃:

• Stable steam temperature: 170±1℃

• Steam pressure: 0.77±0.1bar

• Average steam flow rate: 1.034t/h

• Heating capacity: 759.89kW

• Average COP: 1.58

All performance indicators meet industrial application standards. Compared with traditional coal-fired and gas-fired boilers, the unit upgrades low-grade thermal energy through electric drive, achieving an energy saving rate of 30%-60% and reducing carbon emission intensity by over 80%. It perfectly aligns with the policy orientation of "strengthening industrial energy conservation and carbon reduction transformation" and "promoting clean energy substitution technologies" outlined in the Guangdong Province 2024-2025 Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Action Plan.

"Industrial heating is a core area for energy conservation and carbon reduction, accounting for 25% of China’s total carbon emissions. High-temperature steam heat pumps are the key technology to address the high energy consumption and high emissions of traditional boilers," stated a responsible person from OYRR. The company has always adhered to the core concept of "technological innovation driving green manufacturing." This industry-academia-research cooperation with GIEC and Dongfang Boiler not only transformed the independent intellectual property direct evaporation steam heat pump technology into practical products but also established a collaborative innovation model of "research institute + leading enterprise + manufacturing base." Relying on OYRR’s comprehensive production system, the technology has achieved large-scale mass production conditions and can be widely applied in high-energy-consuming industries such as food processing, textile printing and dyeing, chemical pharmaceuticals, and industrial park centralized steam supply, providing low-carbon and efficient steam solutions for industrial enterprises.

Currently, Guangdong Province is fully advancing its carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, clearly aiming to increase the share of non-fossil energy consumption to around 32% by 2025. The 170℃ industrial steam heat pump technology developed with the participation of OYRR not only fills the domestic gap in the application of ultra-high-temperature air-source heat pumps in industrial scenarios but also serves as a benchmark case responding to the province’s energy conservation and carbon reduction initiatives. In the future, the company will continue to deepen industry-academia-research cooperation, focus on core technological breakthroughs in industrial refrigeration and heating, promote the implementation of more green and low-carbon equipment, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of Guangdong’s manufacturing industry and the achievement of "dual carbon" goals.
